I, Dojokynn—scribe and devoted servant to the Samurai—commit these words to parchment so that my observations may outlast my breath. They call themselves the Jingozi and speak of holy missions. Many rejoice at their coming, but I sense an unease in these strangers. Their words are honey, yet leave the taste of bitterness on the tongue. May my testimony stand as a warning to all who come after, for the path they offer holds hidden snares.
