It was good news, but the air grew heavy. After a pause, Alyssa revealed calmly, "Cyrus told me that
Sophia went berserk before the death sentence. She peed herself and couldn''t walk straight. They had
to drag her to the execution chamber. It was such a cathartic scene."
Jasper finally croaked, "Was it by lethal injection or firing?"
"Lethal injection." She looked deep into his eyes. The corner of her lips lifted. "Firing would have been
too merciful for her. She struggled in pain for ten minutes until her heart stopped.
"She was strapped to a chair by the time of her death, limbs stiff and face contorted. The short ten
minutes of torture might not be enough to make up for what she did to Anne, but at least justice was
served."
Jasper lowered his gaze. The news stirredplicated emotions in him.
Sophia Kirkman was dead. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

He should have apuded in glee, but he did not feel as excited as he thought he would be since the
case had dragged out for too long.
"After her death, the court informed Javier to im her body for cremation. Since they weren''t divorced,
he was legally her husband. But he refused to show up. The court had no choice but to proceed with
the cremation itself," added Alyssa.
With a smirk, she taunted, "As a husband, Javier refused to send Sophia on her final journey, even
after she had mothered his children. How sad!"
"Hmph! If he dares to im her body, he''d better step out of the chairman role. He should go do
something else instead." Newton''s eyes shed with emotions.
He pped his thigh and said, "No matter what, I''m thrilled that Jasper has gotten his revenge. Ben, tell
the chef to whip up more dishes tonight. We''ll pop a fine wine to celebrate the asion!"
In a good mood, Ben chuckled. "Yes. I''ll get the chef to work on it."
"By the way, get someone to look around for some fireworks. Buy some for us to set off," Newton
ordered.
Jasper found the ideaical. "Grandpa, you don''t have to. Besides, how will you find fireworks in the
middle of nowhere? Don''t give Ben trouble."
"Ben, there''s a shop selling fireworks at Pelham Street. It''s three miles away from the vi. I frequently
bought fireworks for Grandpa there in the past. Send someone there right now. The shop must still be
open," Alyssa informed Ben with a smile.
Jasper nced at her in astonishment. Did she frequently buy fireworks for Newton? Why wasn''t he
aware of it?
Ben gave her a thumbs-up. "Ms. Alyssa, nobody knows Mr. Newton as well as you. You''re not just a
granddaughter-inw to him; you''re almost like his granddaughter!"
Hearing that, Alyssa shyly sped her hands and blushed, unlike her usual rxed self.
"Isn''t that right? Alice is good to me. No one in the family does it better than her," said Newton as he
fixed a disgruntled look on Jasper''s face. "You little brat. I bet you have no idea about my habits and
my likes. Alice knows everything.
"In the three years you were married, she''d keep mepany at Crescent Bay whenever she was
free. I loved ying with fireworks, especially during the holidays. She''d fulfill all my requests.
"She''s kept mepany through lonely times. Too bad I couldn''t do more for her because my time is
nearly up. You need to treat her well on my behalf."
"Grandpa..." Jasper held his breath and choked up.
"Grandpa, Jasper has always treated me well." Worried that Newton might overthink, Alyssa quickly
assured him with a yful smile, "Plus, I keep youpany because it''s what I love doing. I learned so
much from you. Every time, I show up just to learn your tricks. Hehe! I bet you''ve never noticed!"
While she was speaking, a tall figure appeared in front of her.
